A family affair

The vineyard has belonged to the Arena family since the early 18th century, while Corsica was still Under Genoese domination.

Over three centuries of passion

For a long time, the estate’s main focus wasn’t that of wine making : wheat and fruit bearing trees were also cultivated, as well as live stock. From 1977, the family decided to stop polycultivation and focused solely on wine production.

Antoine Arena, Jean-Baptiste’s father, took over in 1976, a year after the events in Aleria, making this return to Corsican soil a political as well as cultural action. He significantly  expanded the estate, from only three hectares to fourteen.

Jean-Baptiste was born into this life, but his parents Antoine and Marie never pressured him to follow the path of viticulture.

He started off by studying law in continental France but soon felt compelled to come back to Corsica in 2003 and work alongside his father. They were joined by his brother Antoine-Marie a year later. Today both brothers keep working together on separate plots of the estate.

1976 - The first bottle

The estate first produced a wine aimed at the Pisa and Florence clientele, transported in barrels. Sale of bottles started in the 1970s.
