The strength of Patrimoniu

Opening on the Gulf, the large basin spreads with its plain, hills and valleys. Its dense network of rivers and ridges close it off at Bastia in the East and in the Agriate desert in the South.
This soil is protected from the harsh North East winds. When it rains, the wind dries the fruit, insuring a healthy harvest. In times of summery drought, the humidity from the sea compensates for the lack of water. At night, the cool air, up to 1000 metres high, balances the vineyards’ climate.
This moderate yet regular nutrition gives birth to deep whites and reds with remarkable tannins.
The vines grow on clay-limestone soils, often planted either on hillsides or piedmonts of various mountains, creating a mosaic of micro-soils, each with a different personality.
The winemakers have managed to preserve this ecosystem, and keep it intact and unchanged for centuries.
The vineyard

In the heart of the village of Patrimoniu, we produce wine in the family cellar. The estate’s vineyards have come to be attached to San Anghjulu Mount, very representative of the name. They are high up on the estate, partly on the sharp hillsides and partly on half-hillsides.
A section of vines was planted in 1982, and a small plot is over a century old.
